Product Descriptions

In support of its dual mission to end extreme poverty within a generation and boost shared prosperity, the World Bank Group conducts and publishes a large selection of research and knowledge products on a broad range of social and economic development issues with a focus on emerging economies.

World Bank eLibrary is the World Bank’s official subscription-based publishing platform originally launched in 2003 and completely re-designed in 2013. Designed to meet the unique needs of researchers and librarians, it is focused on adding value to World Bank content through its enhanced functionality, ease of use, and many time-saving tools.

eLibrary is one of the most comprehensive collections in international development. It offers immediate access to the complete collection of World Bank books, reports, and journal articles published since the 1990’s ¬– a total of 13,000+ items. There are no embargoes on content in the World Bank eLibrary. The world’s top academic institutions, international and governmental agencies, think tanks and NGOs subscribe to the World Bank eLibrary.

Publications include authoritative reports that feature research from some of the world’s top development economists and practitioners, handbooks to train and aid practitioners, scholarly books that contribute to the development debate in universities and think tanks, and outreach publications for general audiences.

Topics cover the full spectrum of Social Sciences and International Development, including development policy, finance, health, education, environment, trade, poverty, climate change, and globalization.
