Product Descriptions

The Nordic Institute of Asian Studies, NIAS, in Copenhagen was founded as an independent Asian studies institute in 1968. Supported by the Nordic Council of Ministers it has maintained a commitment to contribute to the development of Asian studies in the Nordic region. NIAS’ challenge is to develop and maintain the research base for better understanding and ultimately for bringing Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden and Asia closer together.

NIAS aims to create both synergy and better coordination of activities within the field of Asian studies in the Nordic region. It strives to add value to existing activities through collaboration within and across relevant disciplines in the social sciences, business studies, humanities, law and the technical and natural sciences. Based at the Nordic Institute of Asian Studies in Copenhagen, NIAS Press is a globally focused publisher with authors from the Nordic countries and indeed, from every continent. Its books are available in all parts of the world.
